8:30 - Get ready, no make up or scents
9:15: Arrive at Clinic
9:20: Go over instructions with nurse, she takes us into a back room. Here I have to take off all my clothes and wear only a hospital gown and very nice hospital shoes. The nurse goes over what will happen and gives us instructions for post egg retrieval, as well as the new medication that I will be taking. Good news no needles.
9:40: Meet the nurses - Amber and Amy. So sweet and kind, and both originally from Regina. We also meet the embryologist and she tells me to watch the TV in the room to see the egg. It will appear quickly so she will tell me when to look.
9:45: Dr. Min comes and give me my IV - lost a bit of blood.
After this i'm not sure of any time: Trevor gives me a kiss and heads off to get my prescriptions and to do his business.
- Head into the room, small room with a bed that has a place to put your legs and the roof has a picture of a little boy and girl kissing under the stars.
- The nurse gets me in position and washes me while Dr. Min gives me some drugs. He asked if I like to have a few drinks. I started to laugh, he said in a few minutes I will fee like I had a few glasses of wine.
- Drugs kick in but only make me feel relaxed, I know everything that is going on.
- He goes in - count to three and a poke. It really was a pinch and a big cramp, then there was pressure for the next little while. Then he went over to my right side and did the same. I got to see two of the eggs on the screen - this was pretty cool. Amy the nurse held my hand the entire time. After he was done with the needle Dr. Min gives me a pap and checks to make sure there is no major bleeding. This part was probably the most uncomfortable.
- Through the whole procedure I listened to my Egg Retrieval playlist - I put it on shuffle. The first song - Bless the Brocken Road by Rascal Flatts, 2nd You're the Inspiration by Chicago, 3rd "I can see clearly now", 4th Lego House by Ed Sheeran, 5th Better Together Jack Johnson. Then everything was done.
- I moved onto another bed, laid there while they check my vitals. Trevor came in and sat with me. I was there for about an hour. I had some really bad cramps and the nurse gave me some Tylenol. She also gave me some juice and cookies. Once I went to the bathroom I could go.
- Next the embryologist came in: They took 5 eggs!!!! 4 of them are mature and they will add the sperm this afternoon and see which ones will take. They will call us everyday to update. Like Rachel said they are in a Egg Nursery.
Pharmacy: The next few drugs I will take before and during pregnancy.
Medrol $17.93: I only take this for 4 days to get my body ready. I will take this one with food. 2 tablets with breakfast and 2 tablets with supper.
Estrace $35.75 : I will take this one up to my pregnancy test and if I'm pregnant then I will continue to take this pill until 10 weeks or until the clinic instructs us to stop taking. I will take 1 tablet with breakfast and 1 tablet supper.
Prometrium $189.62: I will also take this up to my pregnancy test and if pregnant will continue to take until clinic instructs to discontinue. This one is interesting I will take this three times a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I will insert 2 capsules into the vagina. As instructed by the pharmacist it will be a good idea to have some panty liners.
Tonight I will start my Medrol with supper but the rest of the prescription drugs will all start tomorrow.
